Whitney and I had both visited Hawaii before meeting each other. Whitney visited Kauai with her family as a child, and my family visited O’ahu in 2010 three months after I left the Army. We had always heard awesome things about Maui, but never had the chance to experience it firsthand.

So we booked a visit for our honeymoon in April of 2022. And we did it right!

We were on the The Valley Isle for a total of 8 days and stayed at three different locations: Wailea (middle), Lahaina (west), and Hana (east). Each destination offered something special and unique. I cannot name a favorite because they’re all so different. In fact, we were informed that there are 34 micro-climates on the island of Maui alone. Nuts!

Some of our activities on Maui included: Beach walks, exploring the local shops, a helicopter ride that flew around the entire island, exploring the countryside, circumnavigating the entire island via car, hiking through a lava tube, whale watching, scuba diving, snorkeling, and eating some of the best food I’ve ever had. Seriously…

This trip to Maui was our first, and will most certainly not be our last.
