Questions to ask your photographer | Tips | Courtland Photography

Your wedding photos will last long after you walk down the aisle, which is why hiring the right photographer for you is such an important decision. When conducting your search, consider asking the photographer a few of these questions during your consultation. The answers should help you narrow down your list so you can be confident you have the right photographer for you and your fiance.

Availability

  1. Is our date available?

  2. Will you be the one shooter our wedding? If not, can we the photographer who is?

Background

  1. How many weddings year do you photograph?

  2. How long have you been photographing weddings? How many weddings have you shot?

  3. Have you shot a wedding at our venue?

  4. Can we see the full galleries of a few recent weddings you’ve photographed?

Pricing and collections

  1. How many hours come in each collection? How much do extra hours cost?

  2. Approximately how many photos will we get?

  3. Do you charge for travel? If so, how much?

  4. Do you offer a photo booth?

  5. Do you include engagement photos in your collections? What about pre-wedding events like rehearsal dinners?

  6. What kind of editing do you do?

  7. When will we receive our wedding photographs?

  8. Will we get to keep the digitals?

  9. What’s included in your standard collection? What are your add ons?

  10. Can I customize a collection to fit my needs?

Prints and albums

  1. What kind of albums and wall art do you offer?

  2. Do you provide assistance selecting images to include?

  3. Are albums included in your collections? If so, how many pages are included?

  4. Will we have the rights to our images?

  5. Will the photographs be accessible online? If so, for how long?

  6. Will we receive the high resolution images? Will they have your watermark?

Logistics

  1. How much of a deposit do you require? When is it due?

  2. Do you accept payment plans?

  3. What is your refund or cancellation policy?

  4. Do you have liability insurance?

  5. Do you carry backup equipment?

  6. What is the backup plan if you are unable to shoot my wedding for an unexpected reason?
